Welcome to a bumper edition of the Insurance Institute of Southampton email newsletter with a lot to tell you about this month. We've got the latest info on the annual dinner, important news of the Insurance Charities Day, the forthcoming lecture programme and updates on revision workshops.

Friday 23rd February 7pm - The Insurance Institute of Southampton 2007 Annual Dinner at St Mary's Stadium Southampton With Kevin Connelly (from BBC TV & radio show Deadringers) as guest speaker and nearly 450 tickets sold, this year's annual dinner is shaping up to be one of the best in recent years. You'll find a comprehensive guide to the event on the annual dinner page of our website with a menu, bar times and pretty much everything else you may need to know from parking instructions to cab numbers. As well as the President's speech, table magicians and the crème de la crème of the industry in attendance, the evening's entertainment also features the ever popular Kings & Queens game to help raise money for the Insurance Charities...so don't forget your wallet.

Insurance Charities Day – Friday 2nd March 2007 - Can You Walk The Walk? The Southampton Institute has a good reputation for charity fundraising (ranking 3rd in the league table of CII regions) and we are asking all our members to get involved in the 2007 Insurance Charities Day. Whether as an organiser or participant in a sponsored walk, a fundraiser in your workplace or simply a cash contributor, we urge you to learn about the work of the Insurance Charities and do your bit on the day. Forthcoming Lunchtime Lecture: Peter Bristow "The Financial Ombudsman Service"  Tuesday 27th February Our lecture programme continues at The Southampton Park Hotel with Peter Bristow, relationship manager of the The Financial Ombudsman Service speaking about the work of the service in settling disputes between financial firms and their customers and what you can do to stop complaints about your firm from reaching the Ombudsman. All members and non-members are welcome. Starts at 12.15 for 12.45pm, free refreshments available. Click here for a map. CII Exam Revision Workshops – Thursday 22nd & Friday 30th March at Fortis, Eastleigh
Following the success of last year’s Revision Workshops a further series of Workshops will take place at the offices of Fortis in Eastleigh in March 2007. On Thursday 22 March a full day workshop will be held covering the common areas of subjects IF1, IF2, IF3, and IF4. The cost will be £20 per delegate, including a light lunch. On Friday 30 March two half day workshops will be run at a cost of £10 per half day workshop per delegate. Future Lunchtime Lectures: Tim Ablett "Private Medical Insurance - Future or No Future" - Tuesday 13th March at Zurich All members and non-members are welcome to this thought provoking discussion by the former CEO of First Assist in the luxury surroundings of the Zurich campus in Whiteley. The the final lecture of the programme is a timely discussion on “The Pandemic not if but when – how will you cope?” by Nic Robinson, at the Southampton Park Hotel on Tuesday 27th March. Check the programme page of the website for full details on all the events listed above.
